While the Standard and Digital Deluxe Editions of Black Myth: Wukong are available on both PS5 and PC, the physical Deluxe and Collector's Editions are strictly for PC owners, with each edition providing players with a key to download and install Black Myth: Wukong . As of now, there are no indications of the physical editions of the game arriving on PS5 with an applicable download code. Further, Black Myth: Wukong 's additional in-game content available as part of the Digital Deluxe Edition is consistent across all versions, with the physical Deluxe and Collector's Editions set apart by the collectibles they include rather than any additional in-game bonu

A year ago, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor made waves when its physical copy included the disclaimer "Download Required" , something that's sadly become more common . The disc included only partially held the game's file size, with a download needed to complete the rest. It was a major hit for game preservation purposes, and it looks like Black Myth: Wukong will suffer the same fate, at least in the interim.

Soulslike fans have been eagerly anticipating the upcoming Black Myth: Wukong for just over 4 years, but that wait is finally nearing its end as the game's August release date fast approaches. Taking inspiration from the Classical 16th Century Chinese novel Journey to the West , Black Myth: Wukong puts players in the shoes of The Monkey King himself, Sun Wukong, as he takes on all manner of creatures from Eastern mythology. One of the questions players have had about the game during its long development was whether the title would be receiving a dedicated physical release, and it appears that players will indeed have the option of picking up a physical copy, albeit with a few cave

After it was officially unveiled back in 2021, until this recent trailer, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers had somewhat fallen by the wayside, due to the increasing number of Soulslikes being released in quick succession. One such game is Black Myth Wukong , which releases in August. Featuring Soulslike mechanics, similarly fantastical boss fights, and steeped in Ancient Chinese history, Wukong will likely be compared to Wuchang , even though the art styles are quite different. Indeed, Wuchang 's tone and aesthetic seem more similar to the likes of Team Ninja's critically acclaimed Nioh ser

In Black Myth: Wukong , players can stagger bosses, potentially even knocking them down. At that point, serious damage can be dealt to the boss, all while it flails around in pain on the ground. Guangzhi has a powerful move set and the ability to ignite enemies, applying a burn that damages them over time, but what really makes this ability handy is that turning into Guangzhi gives you a new, full health bar. Eventually time runs out and you transform back into the Destined One, but transforming can be a great way to survive when your health is low by allowing you to tank a bunch of difficult to avoid attacks. Again, more layers of resource management.

In an update shared online , developer Game Science shared the rationale behind such a decision along with information about how its physical copies will work. On the subject of the decision, Game Science had this to say:

Instead, a copy of the physical edition will have a download voucher inside the box, which players can then redeem online for the full game. That goes for both the standard "Deluxe Edition," and the recently revealed "Collector's Edition." In other words, the physical edition is nothing more than a glorified drink coaster.

Both physical editions come with an activation code for the Digital Deluxe Edition of Black Myth: Wukong (for purchases on JD.com, it will be a WeGame activation code; for overseas purchases, it will be a Steam activation code). To ensure the Destined One with a physical edition can play on August 20th's launch, activation codes will be sent in advance by the customer service of our sales platform after purchase confirmation.
